fix: restore Harbor adapter execution and usage reporting - #522
Restore Harbor execution and usage reporting across the affected NVIDIA NeMo Fabric adapters. Fix the reproduced provider/pricing failures, preserve invocation-local token observations with explicit cache/reasoning semantics, and transport adapter-declared model settings through the SDK Harbor bridge. Missing or unverified counters remain unknown.
This branch targets release/0.6 at 8f1f28c4a622f0e5bdc25dee89d43205e3c63516; Fabric remains 0.6.0, with the release branch's Relay 0.11 constraints. No main/0.7 version changes are included. The latest follow-ups add no dependencies or lockfile changes.
The existing dependency corrections are retained: Mini-SWE/NOOA constrain LiteLLM below the incompatible 1.106 dispatch releases, and Pi uses the compatible 1.0.3 SDK combination. Rust, Python, and Node license inventories remain unchanged relative to the release branch.
Details
Deep Agents: resolve absolute workspace aliases without traversal, symlink, or prefix-collision regressions. Mark LangChain input usage as cache-inclusive and keep missing dimensions unknown instead of promoting partial message sums.
Mini-SWE: preserve the served model ID through LiteLLM's NVIDIA provider. Add explicit models.default.settings.cost_tracking="disabled" for unpriced models, requiring a positive runtime.max_turns. Default pricing stays strict. Disabled pricing leaves cost unavailable and never promotes synthetic SDK zero cost.
NOOA BenchAgent: keep positive task-accumulator observations, mark input cache-inclusive, leave ambiguous zero dimensions unknown, and preserve observed usage on failed results. Native summaries can still omit unsuccessful retry requests; this is reported SDK usage, not exhaustive billing evidence.
OpenHands: select LiteLLM's nvidia_nim/ dispatch for provider=nvidia, preserving the exact vendor-prefixed model ID on the wire. Require actual SDK token/cost records instead of synthetic default zeros, and declare prompt counts inclusive of cache without adding a breakdown twice. Regression coverage exercises the actual pinned SDK and tools-enabled HTTP request construction.
Pi: retain compatible SDK pins and derive invocation usage from new raw session-ledger entries, including compaction, branch summaries, and nested model usage. Validate missing/zero/inconsistent counters; include cache reads/writes exactly once and preserve reasoning inclusion semantics. Disable adapter-owned cache warming so it cannot escape the invocation ledger. Pack the new usage module.
Qwen: preserve container-aware Node heap sizing by disabling the CLI relaunch. Report cumulative invocation deltas with cached input retained and inclusive input semantics; missing, reset, all-zero, or unchanged summaries remain unknown. Public summaries may still omit failed request usage.
OpenClaw: allow explicit models.default.settings.supports_usage_in_streaming=true for a custom endpoint. Preserve gateway counts in descriptor-declared usage evidence. Standard totals remain unknown because the gateway can silently fall back from aggregate usage to last-call usage and synthesize zeros. Attached gateway configuration remains deployment-owned.
SDK Harbor bridge: add optional fabric_model_provider and fabric_model_settings, with admission validation and the unchanged served model ID. Native Harbor's separate projection remains an upstream follow-up.
Strands: declare reported output inclusive of reasoning without inventing a separate reasoning count. Kilo docs: explain native background-process lifetime and persistent: true; cleanup remains unchanged.
Descriptors, catalog, package contents, consumer guidance, and adapter docs are synchronized. No public adapter-contract revision, shared pricing policy, task instruction, verifier, resource, or cleanup change is included. All commits retain DCO sign-offs.

Current product head: ab269885afba2e6f21996cfd254c100dce49905c. #516 is stacked on this PR at 68c3fa33b246b5874e268dfe9cfe3ba1252d4f19; its product trees match the parent exactly. Both target release/0.6; Fabric stays 0.6.0.
Full Python suite: 3131 passed, 146 skipped, two existing websockets deprecation warnings, 842.48 seconds. The run uses a freshly built noneditable runtime wheel and source at 6c1703da181f043cd8edb3b5fa901fc9e07d58bb. The final head differs only by a Windows skip on one SDK-backed NOOA test: the pinned upstream SDK imports POSIX-only fcntl. All product, documentation and gate scripts are byte-identical, the test body AST is identical, and 16 focused POSIX tests pass after that guard. Portable adapter tests continue to run on Windows; current-head CI verifies the platform guard.
TypeScript contract checks pass; full adapter workspace 516 passed, 3 opt-in skips, including dependency/audit, packed-content and fresh-consumer install checks. TypeScript sources, tests and lockfiles are unchanged in subsequent commits.
70 qualification tests, corrected real-harness E2Es, and 56 OpenHands tests with SDK/tools 1.50.0, LiteLLM 1.100.1 and MCP 1.28.1 pass. Actual SDK/LiteLLM HTTP fixtures include tool requests, inclusive cache counts, warm usage, failed invocations, and missing pricing.
Catalog validation and wheel/sdist builds, Ruff and patch checks pass. Docs generation passes with 12 existing warnings under Rust 1.94.0.
Earlier failures are retained: stale Mini-SWE/NOOA/Qwen E2E expectations were corrected to the new explicit policy and unknown-vs-zero behavior. A health-worker descendant-pipe assertion failed in an earlier full run and focused reproduction; later profiled, unmodified focused, and this clean full run pass without core edits or weaker deadlines. Its initial cause was not established. Local Bun PATH and macOS temporary-path setup failures are also retained.
B200 scoped follow-ups: existing Nemotron NIM service, Harbor 0.24.1.dev202610250408, SDK bridge, original pinned TB2 kv-store-grpc instruction/verifier, and original 1 CPU/2 GiB. Each report retains all 18 catalog entries; selected trials run serially, once per changed source/install configuration, with no automatic retries. The final OpenHands source/tool head is 6c1703da181f043cd8edb3b5fa901fc9e07d58bb; the final Windows-only test guard changes no production or qualification behavior. Five unchanged harness trials and the separate Deep Agents trial are reused only after explicit relevant-source equivalence checks. This is a composite of scoped evidence, not a new full-catalog run or controlled model comparison.
Full gate pass; input 167072 / output 2318. Compatible SDK/MCP and gRPC/protobuf stack; original task install preserves identity.
NOOA BenchAgent
0
All integration/accounting checks pass; reported input 209388 / output 3236. No server listening at verification.
Qwen
0
All integration/accounting checks pass; reported input 207459 / output 1698. No server listening at verification.
Mini-SWE
0
Pricing failure resolved; invocation and all non-accounting integration/cleanup checks pass. Token totals remain unavailable; verifier finds a missing protobuf value field.
OpenClaw
1
All checks except complete usage pass. Retains observations 463929 input / 1882 output with scope_unverified, without promoting them to standard totals.
The six-adapter archive has 209 independently verified file hashes and 85 resource samples. The final OpenHands archive has 56 verified hashes / 10 resource samples; Deep Agents has a separate 56-hash archive. Fresh noneditable host/task wheel identities, normalized usage transport, original task/resources, all cleanups, absence of owned-resource leftovers, and unchanged model-service identity are verified. Earlier OpenHands dependency-import and package-drift failures remain separately retained, including its intermediate 56-hash archive; they were not relabeled. Post-trial dummy-key redaction in one retained upstream verifier comment is recorded separately, with its Python AST unchanged.
Complete task success and billing/accounting coverage remain separate. Mini-SWE, OpenClaw and OpenCode retain documented usage limits; NOOA/Qwen/OpenHands SDK-reported counts do not certify usage omitted upstream from unsuccessful requests. Reward 0 alone does not establish a Fabric defect. No full-catalog pass is claimed. The preserved full-catalog run at 820aed62 remains 1 passed, 12 failed, 4 blocked, 1 unsupported. Follow-ups add three verified full passes (Deep Agents, Pi, OpenHands); Claude's earlier full pass remains historical evidence.
Current-head CI: 14 passed, 7 skipped, 17 running, 4 queued, one failed NVSkills wrapper. The required signing-status check lacks NVSkills validation evidence for skills/nemo-fabric-integrate/SKILL.md. This is missing signing validation, not a reported skill-test failure. A maintainer-triggered NVSkills run and the remaining checks must complete before merge; no protection is bypassed.
Where should the reviewer start?
Start with Deep Agents, Pi and Qwen invocation accounting, then Mini-SWE's explicit pricing policy and the SDK Harbor model-settings transport. Review OpenClaw's evidence extension and OpenHands's missing-record guard/inclusive flag alongside their real-SDK regressions. Descriptor/catalog changes and packaging checks accompany the corresponding implementation.

The local-shell backend maps absolute paths under the workspace to relative paths before native resolution. Tests cover workspace file access and reject traversal and symlink paths that escape the workspace. Documentation describes workspace aliases and retained path checks.
FabricAgent accepts an optional fabric_model_provider, rejects blank or whitespace-padded values, and requires a model name when a provider is supplied. Harbor configuration uses the supplied provider or infers it from the model name. Tests and documentation cover the option.
The harness and full extras constrain LiteLLM to versions below 1.106. The READMEs describe the MCP type import issue in versions 1.106.4 and 1.106.5. The test checks the dependency constraint.

For NVIDIA models, the adapter adds the nvidia_nim/ dispatch prefix when it is absent. Tests cover prefixed and unprefixed names and verify the served model ID remains unchanged.
The adapter metadata, install commands, and consumer guidance align pi-ai, pi-coding-agent, pi-mcp, and pi-codemode at version 1.0.3. Package checks enforce the optional peer and development pins. Maintainer guidance adds packed-artifact checks in a fresh consumer install.
Detailed usage sets output_tokens_include_reasoning to true. The test checks that reasoning_tokens is absent, and the README describes the inclusive output total.
The SDK sets QWEN_CODE_NO_RELAUNCH to "true". The startup test checks that Qwen starts once and retains the configured 512 MB Node heap limit. Documentation describes the resulting memory sizing.

On Windows, local-shell Deep Agents listings and searches can return paths that the agent's own file tools reject. Agents there cannot read or edit files they just discovered. Linux and macOS behavior is not affected. Fix the path representation before merging, or explicitly accept the Windows limitation.
