Enterprise B2B market research and account profiling project focused on identifying, validating, and segmenting CIO, CTO, CISO, and CDO contacts across large enterprise organizations.
This project focuses on enterprise B2B account profiling and IT market intelligence across Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR).
The objective was to identify enterprise organizations based on strict geography, employee-size, department, and seniority criteria, and map their most relevant IT decision-makers.
Unlike a broad prospecting exercise, this project followed a CXO-only targeting strategy, focusing exclusively on:
- CIO — Chief Information Officer
- CTO — Chief Technology Officer
- CISO — Chief Information Security Officer
- CDO — Chief Digital / AI Officer
The project demonstrates an end-to-end B2B data prospecting workflow, covering account discovery, CXO research, data cleaning, title standardization, validation, enrichment, segmentation, and CRM-ready structuring.
The core business question was:
How can we identify enterprise organizations in Mumbai/MMR and accurately map their senior-most IT decision-makers while maintaining strict CXO-level and enterprise-size criteria?
- Geography: Mumbai & Mumbai Metropolitan Region
- Company Type: Enterprise Organizations
- Employee Size: 2,500+ Employees
- Department: IT
- Seniority: CXO Only
- Target Titles: CIO, CTO, CISO, CDO
| Metric | Result |
|---|---|
| Enterprise Accounts | 320 |
| Verified CXO Contacts | 480 |
| Average Contacts / Account | 1.5 |
| CXO Titles Covered | 4 |
| Industry Verticals | 7 |
| IT Sub-Functions | 5 |
| Employee Threshold | 2,500+ |
The final dataset was restricted to four IT leadership positions.
| CXO Title | Contacts | Share |
|---|---|---|
| CIO — Chief Information Officer | 216 | 45% |
| CTO — Chief Technology Officer | 144 | 30% |
| CISO — Chief Information Security Officer | 72 | 15% |
| CDO — Chief Digital / AI Officer | 48 | 10% |
| Total | 480 | 100% |
The dataset intentionally excluded VP, Director, and Head-level profiles from the final CXO segmentation.
All target organizations met the 2,500+ employee enterprise threshold and were further segmented according to company size.
| Account Tier | Employee Size | Accounts | Share |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 — Large Enterprise | 2,500–5,000 | 160 | 50% |
| Tier 2 — Major Enterprise | 5,001–10,000 | 96 | 30% |
| Tier 3 — Global Enterprise | 10,000+ | 64 | 20% |
| Total | — | 320 | 100% |
The research covered seven enterprise industry verticals:
- BFSI & FinTech
- IT Services & GCCs
- Telecom & Digital Infrastructure
- E-Commerce & Consumer Technology
- Healthcare & Pharma
- Media, Entertainment & OTT
- Enterprise Manufacturing & Conglomerates
The project also classified IT leadership according to their primary area of technology ownership.
| IT Sub-Function | Contacts | Share |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure & Cloud | 168 | 35% |
| Cybersecurity & Risk | 120 | 25% |
| Data, Analytics & AI/ML | 96 | 20% |
| Enterprise Applications & ERP | 60 | 12.5% |
| Digital Transformation & Innovation | 36 | 7.5% |
| Total | 480 | 100% |
This segmentation provided an additional layer of intelligence beyond job title, allowing the database to be organized around areas of technology ownership.
The project followed a structured B2B data prospecting and validation workflow.
Defined the target market using:
- Geography
- Enterprise employee threshold
- IT department
- CXO-level seniority
- Target executive titles
Used targeted filters across professional B2B research platforms to identify qualifying enterprise accounts and IT executives.
Processed the collected records using Microsoft Excel.
Key activities included:
- Duplicate removal
- Job-title standardization
- Removal of non-CXO profiles
- Record structuring
- Data categorization
Cross-validated contact information and title accuracy using multiple data sources.
A key validation step was distinguishing genuine CXO-level positions from VP-level or "Head of IT" roles that could otherwise be incorrectly classified as C-suite profiles.
Organized the validated records into a standardized structure suitable for:
- CRM upload
- Team circulation
- Account segmentation
- Executive-level outreach
- LinkedIn Sales Navigator
- ZoomInfo
- Apollo.io
- Lusha
- Seamless.AI
- ContactOut
- Apollo.io
- Microsoft Excel
- Advanced Filters
- Title Standardization
- Deduplication
- CRM Upload
- Structured Templates
- Team Circulation
- Market Intelligence Reporting
-
CIOs represented the largest CXO segment, accounting for 45% of the final contact database, followed by CTOs at 30%.
-
Infrastructure & Cloud was the largest IT ownership segment, representing 35% of the mapped contacts, followed by Cybersecurity & Risk at 25%.
-
Data, Analytics & AI/ML represented 20% of the contact base, providing a distinct segment of enterprise technology leadership associated with data and AI ownership.
-
50% of the target accounts were within the 2,500–5,000 employee range, while the remaining accounts were distributed across larger enterprise tiers.
-
The average of 1.5 CXO contacts per account reflects the project's highly focused targeting strategy, rather than maximizing the number of contacts per organization.
-
The research prioritized role accuracy over volume, with the final dataset restricted to CIO, CTO, CISO, and CDO positions.
Created a role-focused dataset restricted to verified CIO, CTO, CISO, and CDO profiles.
Targeted organizations meeting the defined 2,500+ employee enterprise threshold.
Segmented IT leadership across Infrastructure & Cloud, Cybersecurity, Data & AI, Enterprise Applications, and Digital Transformation.
Applied multi-source validation to improve contact and job-title accuracy and remove non-CXO profiles.
Prepared the final dataset in a structured format suitable for CRM workflows and targeted enterprise outreach.
📌 Portfolio Context
