Experimental, opt-in: ocs claude starts Claude Code with an ocs channel (Claude Code Channels research preview). See docs/claude-channel.md.

  • Messages to such a session arrive as <channel source="ocs"> events: no crossSessionInbound hold, host-native "external data" framing, ocs_dm / ocs_send tools.
  • Sender prefers a verified live channel (same-uid non-symlink registration, live server whose parent is the target Claude). Nothing written → fall back to inbox; written but unanswered → unknown (exit 3), never re-sent through the inbox. Success is reported as "handed to the session's ocs channel", never as read.
  • initialize answers protocol 2025-06-18: Claude 2.1.319 skips channel registration on connections negotiated at 2026-07-28.
  • Launcher passes only --dangerously-load-development-channels server:ocs and strips outer-session identity env.
  • <channel / </channel neutralized in wake bodies; send/dm accept --.

Verification

  • test/claude-channel.test.ts 14 tests; mutation check (8 guards flipped to if (false)) all red.
  • Real host (macOS, Claude Code 2.1.319): ocs claude → dev-channel dialog (choices are accept / Exit) → ocs dm showed ← ocs: in the session, the model replied via ocs_dm with correct identity; registration is removed on /exit.
  • Not verified: Windows (disabled), LAN-originated DMs, permission relay (not implemented).
  • Local full suite: 4 failures that also fail on clean main in this environment (grok e2e, cli-e2e dm to an offline Codex thread creates an undiscoverable new channel; message is effectively lost #62, 2× opencode).

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added experimental ocs claude support on macOS and Linux, enabling messages to reach Claude Code sessions through channel events and providing in-session ocs_dm and ocs_send tools.
    • Channel-enabled sessions are labeled [channel] in ocs who. Channel delivery does not provide receipts; if the outcome is unknown, messages are not resent through the inbox.
    • ocs send and ocs dm now accept -- to allow message text to begin with option-like characters.
  • Documentation
    • Added guidance on setup, delivery behavior, platform support, and channel limitations.

Walkthrough

This change adds an experimental Claude Code channel on macOS and Linux. The ocs claude launcher starts a local channel server and provides messaging tools. Wake delivery tries the channel before inbox injection and distinguishes accepted handoffs from unknown outcomes.

Changes: Claude channel delivery

Layer / File(s) Summary
Channel registration and delivery protocol
src/claude-channel.ts, test/claude-channel.test.ts
Adds channel discovery, bounded socket delivery, an MCP server, message validation, and registration and socket cleanup. Tests cover protocol handling, trust checks, and delivery outcomes.
CLI launch and channel discovery
src/cli.ts, src/i18n.ts, src/claude-channel.ts, CHANGELOG.md, CLAUDE.md, DESIGN.md, README.md, README.zh-CN.md, docs/claude-channel.md
Adds ocs claude, channel server startup, channel labels in ocs who, and the -- argument terminator. Help text and documentation describe launch and channel behavior.
Wake routing and outcome reporting
src/claude-inject.ts, src/wake.ts, src/wake-receipt.ts, src/deliver.ts, src/i18n.ts, docs/wake-protocol.md, test/claude-channel.test.ts
Wake paths try channel delivery before inbox injection. Accepted sends are reported as channel handoffs; unknown outcomes are reported without inbox retry. Wake-body neutralization includes channel tags.

ocs claude "prompt" may fail to pass the prompt to Claude Code because it is parsed as a channel entry. This affects an experimental opt-in launcher only. A slow-host test timeout is also possible. Neither is severe, but both are cheap to fix before merging.

Keep positional prompts out of the channel arguments.

ocs claude "fix the bug" passes the prompt after the variadic development-channel flag. Claude Code can reject it as an invalid channel entry instead of using it as the prompt.

Place passthrough arguments before the injected flags where possible, while keeping the injected flags before any passthrough --. Add a positional-prompt test and update the argument-order assertions.

Review comment at @test/claude-channel.test.ts at line 265:
Increase the timeout for the “unknown outcome on the channel” test in the test
declaration so it allows up to 15 seconds for the channel calls and scheduling
delays; leave the test behavior unchanged.
