I've formed a small unit to suit my own preferences and figured I'd see if anyone else is interested in such a concept. The point of this unit is to provide a small, but cohesive unit where we can take the game seriously, but not so seriously that we can never enjoy ourselves.

I'm looking for skilled, active pilots, who want to squad up without having to deal with uber-realism, ranks, etc., but still use good communication & tactics. I'm not going to focus on one individual aircraft, or even a faction; if you want to fly German one night, and Russian the next, great! Wanna jump from 109s to IL-2s? Go for it! I want you to be able to jump on our Discord channel, send a message, and grab a wingman so you aren't alone when you do so.

We all know there can be a disparity between the faction populations, so FFS is NON-FACTIONAL. We are neither axis nor allies.

So, why join FFS? For Fun's Sake. What makes FFS different? It's made to let you play what you want, when you want, on the side you want, with who you want.

Here are some of the things I'm already doing or in the process of rapidly implementing:

• I'm maintaining custom skins for all members for the aircraft of their choice, including kill markings. Is your favorite aircraft a BF109F-4? I'll make a skin for you, and you can submit your WITNESSED kills to me, and I'll add the markings to the tail of your aircraft! I want you to feel like you own your virtual bird, and I want you to be proud of what you've accomplished with it!
• Collaborating with other units to help figuratively fill in the ranks for events when they're running short on a scheduled operation. For example, if a bomber squadron doesn't have an escort for a particular op, and I know I have pilots who are eager to fly a fighter escort, I'll offer our resources if I can muster the volunteers. Think of a kind of mercenary functionality.
• Operating out of Discord gives us a place to organize AND have voice comms.
• I'd like to find out what each individual pilot's strengths are, in aircraft and tactics, and get volunteers for trainers in case other members want to become familiarized in a specific aircraft.
• Along with aircraft-specific training, I'd like to "certify" pilots for "operational use" once they've reached a certain level of competency in a particular aircraft, so our "allied" squadrons know they're getting competent pilots when they decide to use us for events.
• We are currently registered as a squad on Wings of Liberty, and I also want to get us registered on Random Expert, as well as Tactical Air War. For TAW, I don't want our members bummed out because we voted to go Russian or German for a campaign, so I'll look at the rules and see if I can have a dual unit registration so my VVS guys can go red and my Luftwaffe guys can go blue.

So, how do you qualify to be in FFS?

• You're an adult (Yes, that means 18+) with a good sense of humor. We swear, make jokes, get excited, get frustrated, laugh, and don't concern ourselves overly-policing our speech. This is for grown-ups because I'm not about to start answering emails from angry parents who overheard the F-bomb on their 14 year old son's speakers. I'm also not going to cater to adults who think we need to use PC or light language - this is a game with type-A personality fighter jocks and people get shot down a LOT.
• As much as we will help you learn new skills, you MUST be able to demonstrate proficiency in basic flight operations. FFS is NOT in the business of converting War Thunder "Mouse & Keyboard" pilots who don't know anything about flight into full on sim combat pilots.
• You're going to check your personal, political, and "moral" baggage at the door when you get on comms. This is a game, and I enjoy the people I fly with - I'm not going to compromise that for things that are best left to argue about with your uncle on Facebook.
• You WANT to cooperate on comms with other skilled pilots in order to use tactics and achieve success.
• You ARE NOT going to cry about flight / damage models every time you lose. Keep an open mind, every loss is an opportunity to improve. I'm not going to tolerate tantrums every time someone screws up, but I will massively respect a pilot who says "I know what I did wrong, and I can do better next time". Losing happens. Don't whine about it. More often than not, it's because we make mistakes, well in advance of getting shot down.
• You WANT to learn and keep learning.
• You WANT to have a place where you know you can find a friend, a wingman, and a competent group to play the game we all love, without all the supercilious & over-bearingly rigid "historical accuracy" junk.

"So, who is this 'WookieeCat', anyway?" Well, if it matters to you, I'm a 32 year old professional game & simulator developer and I know how to have fun because I make it for a living. I'm also a full-time single dad who needs an outlet at the end of the day, and I just want to have a good time with some good people.

How to get in FFS:

1. Send me a PM (private message) on these forums giving me some info about you and why you think you're a good fit.
2. I'll then send you an invite to our Discord server.
3. Once in the Discord server, contact one of the training officers, who will then schedule Basic Flight Training. Upon passing, you'll be welcomed into the unit.
4. Profit.

How to work with FFS:

1. Send me a PM on these forums and I'll give you an invite to our Discord server. We have a channel for Squadron guests, so you're welcome to contact us any time you'd like.
2. FFS will not accept recruitment of members from your unit unless they're given written permission by the owner of your unit or until the member has been separated from your unit for longer than 1 month. We do not intend to steal pilots from other units we work with or otherwise, so this is our policy & promise to our cooperative units.
