hunspell-sv är en modern svensk ordlista för Hunspell. Den bygger på SFOL och kompletteras med SALDO, Folkets lexikon, SAOL, etablerad IT-terminologi och manuellt granskade svenska FOSS-översättningar.

Hunspell avgör inte betydelse eller typografi. Följ även skrivpolicyn: ingen
komma omedelbart före och, svenska citattecken, …, mellanslag före %,
siffergruppering och tankstreck i talintervall. Prefix före | i Crowdin är
metadata och får inte visas i svensk måltext.

The standard sv_SE.dic shipping with most Linux distros and LibreOffice is from 2016–2017. This dictionary:
- Starts from SFOL 2.42 (2020) — 1 500+ more words than the distro version
- Adds SALDO + SALDOM — 35 000+ words from Språkbanken with proper affix paradigms
- Adds 12 000+ words from TM — real words used in Swedish software translations
- Improves compound support — better handling of Swedish compound words

Browser installation requires a separately packaged spellchecker extension.
build.py does not generate .xpi files.
The script extends the checked-in main dictionary. It does not download or rebuild SFOL, SALDO, or the historical expanded dictionary from upstream sources.

working directory. Missing or invalid TM databases stop the build; use --no-tm
to explicitly skip TM. Counts are recalculated, exact duplicate rows removed,
and existing spelling, case and affix flags preserved. Different flag sets for
the same spelling remain separate entries.
TM additions use the existing heuristic (at least five characters, including
å, ä or ö, and the configured occurrence threshold). Review these candidates:
frequency alone is not evidence that a spelling is correct. New entries receive
XY compound flags; inflection flags are not inferred.

Use hunspell-sv as one stage in a Swedish localization review, together with l10n-lint, svlang, swedish-foss-terminology and swedish-tm. A reported word is a review prompt: verify the source, context, terminology and proper names before changing a translation or adding a dictionary entry. Do not add a word merely because it occurs in one catalog.
Hunspell does not decide punctuation, typography or meaning. Apply the shared
Swedish style policy separately: no comma immediately before och, Swedish
quotation marks, … for ellipsis, a space before %, appropriate digit
grouping and an en dash for numeric ranges. Crowdin context before | is
metadata and must not appear in the visible Swedish text.

Use Språkrådet (Isof) as the primary authority for Swedish language and writing rules; see the language policy and reviewed rule catalogue. SAOL supplements individual spelling and inflection entries, as recommended by Språkrådet. Accepted variants must remain accepted, and context-dependent advice must not become blanket spelling prohibitions. The test suite validates this metadata boundary; interpreting the sources still requires review.
