Summary

  • Organizers can now add an event by dropping one file into _data/kaigis/ (copied from a new COPYME.yml.example) instead of appending to events.yml; existing events.yml entries keep working unchanged.
  • held_on lets a single-day event write one date instead of repeating it as both start_on and end_on; Normalizer also flags a kaigis/ file whose name disagrees with its filename.
  • Split filesystem reading out of Normalizer into a new Loader, and added RegionalRubyKaigi.validate_kaigis! as the single validation entry point used by the CLI and by script/validate_kaigis.rb (renamed from validate_events.rb).
  • CONTRIBUTING.md, AGENTS.md, and a new _data/README.md document the new workflow, including hosting via an rko-router proxy outside this repo.

Test plan

  • bundle exec ruby -Itest -e 'Dir["test/**/*_test.rb"].sort.each { |file| require_relative file }' — 51 runs, 0 failures
  • ruby script/validate_kaigis.rb — 110 events validated
  • CI on this PR

Adding an event used to mean appending to a growing events.yml array.
Organizers can now drop one file into _data/kaigis/, copied from a new
COPYME.yml.example, and existing events.yml entries keep working
unchanged.

held_on lets a single-day event write one date instead of repeating it
as both start_on and end_on. Normalizer also catches a kaigis/ file
whose name field disagrees with its filename, since that's almost
always a copy-paste leftover.

Split filesystem reading out of Normalizer into a new Loader, so
Normalizer stays a pure merge function. Added
RegionalRubyKaigi.validate_kaigis! as the one entry point both the CLI
and script/validate_kaigis.rb (renamed from validate_events.rb) call.

CONTRIBUTING.md, AGENTS.md, and a new _data/README.md point
contributors at the new workflow, including the rko-router proxy
option for hosting a site outside this repo.
