Hi, Local Desktop uses PRoot on Android to set up a desktop Linux environment. Everything worked well so far. However, a proportion of my users reported this issue:

Could you give me a clue about what might cause the issue? From what I checked, it occurs on both rooted and non-rooted devices, across different Android versions, with no SD card involved. All conditions seem identical, yet I still can’t reproduce it on my device.

I experience same issue on GrapheneOS with proot-distro and it seems to be associated with glibc 2.42. Distribution with glibc 2.41 works fine until upgrade to 2.42.

Hi, I was sent here from the Local Desktop app. I have one device that works and one that doesn't, both running Android 15. The working device is a sm-t290 on Lineage while the other one (a sm-X210) is on One UI but it still runs an Alpine proot-distro in Termux just fine.

Please use termux's fork of proot on android. By default android cut down many feature proot depends on and termux has fixes.
Also if you have root consider using chroot or lxc.

The phone is an unrooted SM-S936U (S25+), running android 16. I would very much like to try using this. How do I go about this?

Same, came here from the same link. I have a Galaxy S24 Ultra, stock ROM, unrooted, running OneUI v8.0, Android v16. I have termux and proot-distro as installed via pkg install proot-distro works without error on termux. I also have termux:x11 installed. Not sure how to proceed.

Also was sent here from Local Desktop. It doesn't work on a Lenovo Idea Tab Pro (TB373FU) with non rooted stock Android 16 and no SD card.
Termux is working.
