Why from "planet diff"?
Where did this "planet diff" come from?

The planet diffs are diffs from the official OSM servers, generated every minutes. They can be found at http://planet.openstreetmap.org/replication/minute/.
The scripts are used to download these planet diffs, and generate country/regional diffs from them. polygons/ directory contains all limits that are used to generate these country/regional diffs.

Next Step, understandind the Data flow.
As for now:

1. planet.openstreetmap.org/
2. copy 1 planet. to local site
3. split planet. into multiple country/regional files using coordinates from directory(polygons/) using update.py?
4. What next, with generated files?

That's all what is done by these scripts. Diffs and extracts are made available at http://download.openstreetmap.fr/replication/ and http://download.openstreetmap.fr/extracts/.

Osmose is then using these diffs to update its local version of the country extract, and run analyses on the updated country extract.
