Problem

On macOS, the named tunnel setup asked for the Mac password, with no reason given. A user who did not enter it got three failed tries before the installer continued.

Fix

The installer asked for the password to look for a system cloudflared service. It now uses a check that needs no password.

Tests

  • A new installer test fails before the fix and passes after it.
  • tests/run.sh passes.
  • On macOS, the named tunnel setup ran with no password prompt.

On macOS, the named tunnel setup looked for a system cloudflared
daemon through a root launchctl list. That asked for the Mac password
in the middle of the installer, with no reason given. A user who did
not enter it got three failed tries before the installer continued.

launchctl print system lists the system daemons without root, so the
check now uses it. A new installer test runs the named tunnel path
with a stub cloudflared and fails if the installer asks for root.
