    Hi! I'd like to work on this issue as a first contribution.

    My plan: when a user taps a file result in Search, instead of opening it directly, navigate to its parent folder and scroll to / briefly highlight it there.

    A couple of things I'd like to confirm before starting:

    1. Should this replace the current tap behavior (which opens the file directly), or be a separate action (e.g. long-press menu, or a small icon on the result row)?
    2. For directories in search results — should teleporting mean navigating into the folder (current behavior) or navigating to its parent and highlighting it, for consistency?

    hi @yasminhosam welcome, appreaciate yout interest in contributing to amaze! here are your anwers in order:

    1. I feel that we can add an icon to the end of the search item (like this) and keep the current behaviour elsewhere. (but - personal opinion! @EmmanuelMess WDYT?)
    2. I think we can keep the current behaviour as the user would expect us to open the directory

    The icon should be similar to this and maybe have the arrow from this, the issue with "open in new" is that it would imply opening in another screen which allow navigation back to the search. For more guidance, look how GDrive does the "show file in folder".

    If we can gracefully highlight it in a non time sensitive way, it would good UX.

    @yasminhosam

    Thanks for the reference — went with folder-arrow-right-outline from Material Design Icons, which matches the folder shape you pointed to while avoiding the "open in new" implication (the arrow curves rather than pointing diagonally outward).

    Screenshot below before I push — let me know if this looks right or if you'd like a different visual weight/size:

    Also confirming: the highlight stays until the user interacts with it (reusing the existing "checked" selection state), so it's not time-sensitive as you mentioned.

    Icon is good, highlighting is too similar to selected item from selection. If you can't highlight, at least it should scroll consistently to the item. If you are adding this via agentic programming, please add headless and emulator tests for scrolling to item and headless tests for networked files.

    This is literally the one reason why I'm uninstalling Amaze. I can't understand how such a fundamental feature of search engines is missing from such a wildly popular app; it's like the only app that can't do so. I rarely care to open results versus just locating or running operations on them.
