πŸ“‹ Requirements

  • Python 3.8+
  • Django 4.2+
  • MySQL 8.0+
  • Modern web browser with JavaScript enabled

πŸ› οΈ Installation & Setup

1. Clone or Download the Project

cd academic_evaluation

2. Create Virtual Environment

# Windows
python -m venv venv
venv\Scripts\activate

# Linux/Mac
python3 -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate

3. Install Dependencies

pip install -r requirements.txt

4. Configure MySQL Database

Create a MySQL database:

CREATE DATABASE academic_evaluation_db CHARACTER SET utf8mb4 COLLATE utf8mb4_unicode_ci;
CREATE USER 'your_user'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'your_password';
GRANT ALL PRIVILEGES ON academic_evaluation_db.* TO 'your_user'@'localhost';
FLUSH PRIVILEGES;

Update academic_evaluation/settings.py:

DATABASES = {
    'default': {
        'ENGINE': 'django.db.backends.mysql',
        'NAME': 'academic_evaluation_db',
        'USER': 'your_user',
        'PASSWORD': 'your_password',
        'HOST': 'localhost',
        'PORT': '3306',
    }
}

5. Run Migrations

python manage.py makemigrations
python manage.py migrate

6. Create Superuser

python manage.py createsuperuser

Follow the prompts to create an admin account.

7. Train ML Model

Generate synthetic training data and train the model:

cd evaluation
python train_ml_model.py --generate-data --samples 5000 --output-dir ml_models

  4. Use environment variables for sensitive data
  5. Enable HTTPS
  6. Configure CSRF and CORS properly
  7. Set up proper authentication
  8. Regular backup of database
  9. Monitor prediction logs for anomalies

πŸ› Troubleshooting

ML Model Not Loading

Problem: "Model file not found" error

Solution:

cd evaluation
python train_ml_model.py --generate-data --samples 5000

Database Connection Error

Problem: "Can't connect to MySQL server"

Solution:

  • Verify MySQL is running
  • Check credentials in settings.py
  • Ensure database exists
  • Check firewall settings

Import Errors

Problem: "ModuleNotFoundError"

Solution:

pip install -r requirements.txt --upgrade

Low Model Accuracy

Problem: Model accuracy < 85%

Solution:

  • Generate more training samples (--samples 10000)
