Entered the client ID wrong and cannot change it anymore

• I am running the latest release (or latest pre-release, when testing one) of Spotcast.

The problem

In a hurry I set the client ID to a wrong value and now, even after reinstalling the integration, the wizard will never ask me again for client id and client secret and so the wrong values are persistent now and it will always open the wrong URL. How to fix it?

I just realized that you are using the default OAuth credentials safestore mechanism. But it still might be worth it to add it to the manual on how to reset the values in case someone enters the wrong credentials, like me.

Thanks for the report, and for following up with what you found. You are right that the credentials live in Home Assistant's own Application Credentials store, which is why reinstalling Spotcast did not help.

Documenting it was the minimum, but the real problem was that nothing told you what went wrong: Home Assistant never validates the pair, and with a wrong Client ID the flow hands you to Spotify's error page and never hears back. Since no config entry exists at that point, there is nothing a repair could attach to either.

v6.6.3 fixes both sides (#74):

• Spotcast now checks the stored Client ID and Secret with Spotify before the redirect. A rejected pair aborts the setup with a message that links straight to the Application credentials panel of your instance, where you can delete them and start over.
• The first setup screen and the guide now have a dedicated Changing or resetting the application credentials section, including the caveat that Home Assistant refuses to delete credentials that an integration entry still uses.
