### AppxSignature.p7x

Generated when the package is signed. All MSIX packages must be signed before installation. Combined with AppxBlockMap.xml, this enables Windows to verify package integrity at install time and at runtime.
`AppxSignature.p7x` is generated when an MSIX package is signed. It contains the package's PKCS #7 digital signature, including information that identifies the signer and protects cryptographic hashes of the package. The signature covers `AppxBlockMap.xml`, which in turn contains hashes for the payload files, so Windows can detect changes made after signing.

During deployment, Windows verifies the signature and its trust requirements. For a package signed outside the Microsoft Store, the signing certificate subject must match the `Publisher` value in `AppxManifest.xml`. The Microsoft Store applies its own signing and publisher-identity validation when it signs a submitted package.

Runtime package-integrity enforcement is automatic for Microsoft Store packages. For packages distributed outside the Store, declare [`uap10:PackageIntegrity`](/uwp/schemas/appxpackage/uapmanifestschema/element-uap10-packageintegrity); this enforcement is supported on Windows 10, version 2004 and later. Don't edit, replace, or remove `AppxSignature.p7x`; changing the package after it is signed invalidates the signature, and the package must be signed again.

For an MSIX bundle, sign the bundle rather than each package inside it. The bundle's `AppxSignature.p7x` covers the packages it contains. For signing and trust requirements, see [Sign an MSIX package](package/signing-package-overview.md).
