Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Following the implementation of the 3D static structure calculations (#1233), our users have asked for additional plotting capabilities.
This include:
- Sliding/switching through the out-of-plane cuts,
- Visualisation of non-orthogonal systems,
- Summing up selected partial results,
- Presenting multiple cuts on the same, common scale.
Describe the solution you'd like
We could implement a dedicated dialog for dealing with 3- and more-dimensional data.
Describe alternatives you've considered
Adding yet another plotting style to the existing plotter will most likely not be sufficient, since scrolling along the out-of-plane axis will require additional input widgets.
Additional context
For non-orthogonal cells we may need to create plots with non-orthogonal axes. Matplotlib has the API for doing this, but we will have to check how well it works in the interactive plotting context.
