A social network that is open source, federated, easy to use and puts the wellbeing of its users first.
Aloha Social is built on the Fediverse. Your identity lives on a server you or someone you trust runs, and anyone on Mastodon, Pixelfed, PeerTube or any other ActivityPub service can follow, mention and reply to you. There is no algorithm deciding what you see, no advertising, and no one data-mining your posts.
| Repository | What it is | Language | Licence |
|---|---|---|---|
| social | The server. A Nextcloud app that turns any Nextcloud into a Fediverse server, speaking ActivityPub and the Mastodon client API. | PHP | AGPL-3.0-or-later |
| Apple | The client for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Vision Pro, Apple Watch and Apple TV. | Swift | MIT |
| Android | The client for Android phones, tablets and foldables. | Kotlin | MIT |
| Logos | Logo, mark and icon files, with notes on which to use where. |
The clients speak the standard Mastodon client API, so they work with Mastodon, GoToSocial, Akkoma and anything else that serves it. Against Nextcloud Social they go further and light up photos, video, short video, news and stories through the extensions that server publishes.
Everything here is pre-release. The server is a partial implementation of ActivityPub and the Mastodon API and its README says plainly what is still missing. The Apple client is feature complete and waiting on a real server to test against. The Android client is a foundation with the build and quality gates in place.
Issues and pull requests are welcome in each repository. Pick the repo for the platform you want to work on and read its README first; each one documents how to build and which checks CI runs.
