Summary

  • add an optional session_history extension that records contact and operator text through agent slash commands
  • route respond.io messages by assignee and sender source without recording Momo replies twice
  • serialize history records and agent turns in message order for each conversation
  • document setup, behavior, diagnosis, and limits

Tests

  • tests were written and run before production code
  • make check

Stack

This PR targets feat/serial-turns and depends on #23. Merge #23 first, then retarget this PR to main if GitHub does not do that automatically.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added optional session history recording for incoming and outgoing messages.
    • Added support for handing conversations to human operators and routing replies only when assigned to the assistant.
    • Operator and workflow messages can now be recorded without triggering automated replies.
  • Documentation
    • Added configuration guidance for session history, assignment routing, and human handoff.
    • Clarified which message events are recorded and which are ignored.

Review Change Stack

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The change adds optional session-history recording, shared serialization for turns and records, channel history wiring, and Respond.io routing based on conversation ownership and message source.

Changes

Session history and startup

Layer / File(s) Summary
Session-history configuration and recording
internal/config/..., internal/extension/sessionhistory/..., cmd/momo/...
The configuration parses optional session_history settings. The extension records normalized incoming and outgoing text through the agent. Startup validates and initializes the extension.
Turn and record serialization
internal/core/conversation.go, internal/core/conversation_test.go
Conversation state now serializes turn and recording handlers together. FIFO ordering, cancellation, batching, concurrency, and cleanup are covered by tests.

Channel integration and handover

Layer / File(s) Summary
Channel history handler wiring
internal/channel/channel.go, internal/channel/channel_test.go, internal/channel/acp/*
Build qualifies optional history handlers by channel and passes separate turn and record handlers to factories. ACP accepts but ignores the history handler.
Respond.io ownership routing
internal/channel/respondio/*, README.md
Respond.io routes incoming events by assignee and outgoing events by sender source. Human-owned messages are recorded without replies. Configuration and handover behavior are documented and tested.

Estimated code review effort: 4 (Complex) | ~45 minutes

Merge Risk: 🟠 High · up to d5764

A handover race can leave conversations permanently blocked when a waiting turn is cancelled after another message joins it. This availability risk should be fixed before merging; the test expectation cleanup is minor.

Use literal ContentBlock expectations.

core.Text("hello") is production behavior. If it returns an incorrect content block, these routing tests can still pass. Use a literal []core.ContentBlock value at each site.

  • internal/channel/respondio/respondio_test.go#L287-L288: Replace core.Text("hello") in the expected incoming call.
  • internal/channel/respondio/respondio_test.go#L310-L311: Replace core.Text("hello") in the expected outgoing call.
  • internal/channel/respondio/respondio_test.go#L330-L331: Replace core.Text("hello") in the expected no-extension call.
Proposed fix
- message: core.Message{Conversation: "12345", Content: core.Text("hello")}}
+ message: core.Message{Conversation: "12345", Content: []core.ContentBlock{{Type: "text", Text: "hello"}}}}

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | 🏗️ Heavy lift

Do not enable batching before the granted turn starts.

Line 188 sets state.batching while the ticket holder still waits in await. If a record releases a queued turn, a later message can join state.pending before that turn runs. If the granted turn context is then cancelled, abandon calls pass without completing pending. The joined request waits forever on batch.done, and later messages can leave the conversation permanently blocked.

Keep the state non-batching until the granted turn begins run. Add a cancellation test for a message that joins during this handoff.
