Problem switching to my 4k resolution on my macmini m4

Hi,
i am writing you this message because i cant display more than 1920 1080 on my mac.
It used to work flawlessly before out of the box and then one day it switched back to 1920 by 1080.
i also dont have the scaling options anymore for some reason even though it was present before.

i checked on forum and found your app which i downloaded and i was able to manage to switch it back to 4k res
and have the scaling option back in the menu under display in the system preferences.
Then out of the blue it went back to 1920 and since its been this way.
I am curious any of you guys had this issue or not.
My monitor is the asus x32ucwmg

Thank you in advance if you have any idea what could cause this issue.
Also i am using the free version.
i wouldnt mind buying the full version if it can fix the issue.

Hi there,

This sounds more like a connection/communication issue between macOS and the display than something BetterDisplay can fix. I'd first fully power-cycle both the Mac and display, then try another cable and port. If you're using HDMI, try USB-C/DisplayPort instead. If there is a dock, hub or adapter involved, remove that and connect the display directly.

If none of that helps, try resetting the display to factory defaults and test it with another computer if possible. If macOS originally offered 4K and the proper scaling options without BetterDisplay, it really should still do so, so I'd focus on getting that working first rather than buying BetterDisplay Pro specifically to solve this.

Hi, thank you so much for your reply.
Before you wrote your reply i did reset the factory setting on this monitor and i was able to get the right resolution back.
I did pinpoint the specific issue creating the problem with the mac in case someone has the same problem as i did.
Under the gaming setting in the menu osd there is an option which is frame rate boost.
If this option is activated then it revert back to 1920 1080 and the option of scaling is gone.

I hope this could help anyone in case.
