Black screen on Mac Studio with M4 Max connected to LG Ultrawide display

I have a persistent black screen issue on my Mac Studio with M4 Max connected to an LG Ultrawide, which recently got support for 3840x1620 HiDPI in Golden Gate. Problem present also for v5.0.6. By ssh-ing to the computer and running killall BetterDisplay I get back the display.

Does this happen if you stop using a custom color profile?

I saw your previous comments regarding this, but right now I can’t access the settings due the black screen appearing as soon as I start BD. Can I turn off a custom color profile ( which I am not actively using) by some command line arguments?

Hmm. The custom color profile should be visible under System Settings > Displays, the app does not need to be running.

But if you have the black screen right away, it may be something else - possibly simply an image adjustment is set that makes the screen black. You can reset the app by entering this in Terminal:

defaults delete pro.betterdisplay.BetterDisplay

Thanks, after the app reset I can now start BD without the black screen! (The colour profile under System Settings > Displays was set to LG ULTRAWIDE). I will now try to turn on the same settings as before (a virtual screen) and see if I can get back to my old setup before upgrading to Golden Gate (which was what broke it). Thanks again! / Ulf

Ok, that is the factory profile, so the issue is not related to a color profile issue.
