## 1. Objective
Implement a dynamic, single-route dashboard (`/dashboard`) that automatically adapts its UI and functionality based on the logged-in user's role. The system must enforce strict backend permissions while providing a flexible frontend experience.

## 2. Core Architecture
- **Framework**: Laravel 12 + Inertia.js + React.
- **Principle**: "Backend-Driven UI". The backend dictates what the frontend renders.
- **Routing**: Single entry point `DashboardController@index`.

## 3. Database & Roles
- **Table**: `roles` (id, name, slug).
- **Users**: Added `role_id` foreign key.
- **Seeder**: `RoleSeeder` creates 4 roles:
  1. `super_admin`: Full system control.
  2. `admin`: Administrative tasks.
  3. `mentor`: Content management.
  4. `student`: Content consumption.

## 4. Backend Implementation
- **Model**: `User` model now has `role()` relationship and helper methods (`hasRole`, `isSuperAdmin`, etc.).
- **Authorization**:
  - `AppServiceProvider` defines Gates (`manage-users`, `manage-roles`, `manage-content`, etc.).
  - `WidgetManager` service resolves authorized widgets for the user.
  - `DashboardController` constructs a `dashboardConfig` JSON object containing:
    - User Role.
    - Sidebar Items (filtered by role).
    - Widgets (resolved via `WidgetManager` -> `[{key, data}]`).
    - Permission Flags (for UI toggles).
- **Enforcement**: Middleware `can:pemission-name` protects specific routes.

## 5. Widget System Architecture
- **Concept**: Modular, class-based widget system.
- **Contract**: `App\Services\Dashboard\Widget` interface.
- **Manager**: `App\Services\Dashboard\WidgetManager` handles registration, authorization, and caching.
- **Implementations**:
  - **Admin**: `PlatformOverviewWidget`, `UserActivityWidget`
  - **Mentor**: `MyCoursesWidget`, `StudentProgressTrackerWidget`
  - **Student**: `MyLearningProgressWidget`, `TodaysStudyPlanWidget`
- **Frontend**: `WidgetGrid.tsx` maps widget keys (e.g., `platform_overview`) to specific React components.

## 6. Frontend Implementation
- **Tech Stack**: React (tsx), Tailwind CSS, Lucide Icons.
- **Page**: `Dashboard.tsx` acts as the main container, receiving `dashboardConfig`.
- **Components**:
  - `DashboardLayout.tsx`: Renders the dynamic sidebar.
  - `Sidebar.tsx`: Iterates over backend-provided menu items.
  - `WidgetGrid.tsx`: Dynamically renders widgets based on registry.
  - `ActionPanel.tsx`: Conditionally renders buttons based on permission flags.

## 7. Current State & Verification
- **Users Created**:
  - `super_admin@example.com` (password: `password`)
  - `admin@example.com` (password: `password`)
  - `mentor@example.com` (password: `password`)
  - `student@example.com` (password: `password`)
- **Verification**:
  - Verified that Super Admins see all widgets and actions.
  - Verified that Students have a restricted view.
  - Verified that backend routes reject unauthorized checks.
