Unkey Brand Policy

"Unkey", the Unkey logo, the Unkey wordmark, and associated brand assets (collectively, the "Unkey Marks") are unregistered trademarks and brand assets of Unkeyed, Inc. Unkeyed, Inc. has used these marks in commerce in connection with its software and infrastructure services and claims common-law trademark rights in them.

The Unkey Marks are not licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 that governs the source code of this repository, nor under the Creative Commons license that governs the Content. The Unkey logo is additionally protected by copyright.

Scope

The Unkey Marks include, but are not limited to:

  • The name "Unkey" and any stylized variants.
  • The Unkey logo in all color variations and file formats.
  • Files under public/, or any directory clearly designated as brand assets.
  • Favicons, Open Graph images, and social preview images that incorporate Unkey branding.
  • Product names associated with Unkey (for example, "Unkey Deploy").

Permitted use

Without a separate written agreement from Unkeyed, Inc., you may:

  • Refer to "Unkey" factually and descriptively (for example, "I use Unkey for API key management") as permitted by nominative fair use.
  • Link to https://unkey.com using the Unkey name.
  • Reproduce the Unkey logo solely to identify Unkey as a vendor, partner, or integration, provided the use is accurate, not misleading, and does not suggest sponsorship or endorsement.

Prohibited use

Without explicit written permission from Unkeyed, Inc., you may NOT:

  • Use the Unkey Marks on a website, product, service, or application in a way that could reasonably cause confusion about the source, sponsorship, or affiliation of your offering.
  • Host a fork, clone, mirror, or modified version of this repository under the Unkey name, the Unkey logo, or any confusingly similar mark. This applies even if the underlying source code is used in compliance with the AGPL-3.0 license.
  • Register or use a domain name, social media handle, or product name that incorporates "Unkey" or a confusingly similar term in a way likely to cause consumer confusion.
  • Copy, alter, distort, recolor, or otherwise reproduce the Unkey logo outside of the permitted uses above. The Unkey logo is a copyrighted work of Unkeyed, Inc., and unauthorized reproduction infringes that copyright independently of any trademark claim.
  • Use the Unkey Marks in merchandise, advertising, or promotional materials.

Relationship to the source and content licenses

The AGPL-3.0 grants rights to the source code. The Content License grants limited rights to the Content. Neither grants any rights in the Unkey Marks. If you fork this repository, you must remove or replace all Unkey Marks before publishing, hosting, or distributing your fork.
