What heat pump do you have? We have built in support for MasterTemp and UltraTemp [ETi] and it supports both heating and cooling setpoints on the same heat pump. These can be controlled via RS485. |

Our pool heat pump has both heating and cooling.
It can also be controlled through ScreenLogic or njSPC, but it first has to be configured to either be in heat mode or cooling mode by using the front panel on the heat pump.
So, whenever we want to change to cool mode, we have to go through the sequence to put the HP in manual mode, then set its mode to cooling.
When in heat mode, we configure to be controlled by a two wire interface. It's either on or off based on screenlogic's (or njsPC) calculation of setpoint versus actual temperature.
Heat versus cooling mode on the HP is controlled by a "reversing valve", Applying 24VAC to the valve puts it in cooling mode. Else, it is in heat mode (maybe vice versa).
I'm considering getting a Zwave device that will control the reversing valve. I'd like the heat versus cool mode to be controlled by REM or njsPC.
The screenlogic app can be configured to have separate cooling versus heating setpoint. I'm not sure how njsPC works when cooling mode is supported.
What I need is something like a feed that would send a message before the pump turns on that can be used to select the state of the reversing valve (via z wave control).
Does this seem feasible? Can someone point me in the right direction?
