v8.0 No Nerd Font

[Stzx]

I think the CJK variant needs a version that doesn't bundle Nerd Fonts.

What stops you from using the Nerd Font version other than file size?

[Stzx]

I still install Nerd Font Symbols separately, just to save space.

MapleMono-NF-CN-unhinted-8.0-beta.2 314.19 MiB
MapleMono-NF-TC-unhinted-8.0-beta.2 311.15 MiB
MapleMono-NF-KR-unhinted-8.0-beta.2 106.81 MiB
MapleMono-NF-JP-unhinted-8.0-beta.2 102.91 MiB

I have all four installed at the same time. How much space would I save if I removed the NF?

[subframe7536]

About 2MB per font file. so maybe 128MB in total.

[subframe7536]

TBH, there are too many release assets of different variants and features since v8.

[Stzx]

y, packaging this font now requires downloading approximately 10 GiB of files.

I will switch to VF to save space.

[Stzx]

It appears that the space savings are not very significant. This proposal is not very meaningful.
