Flash doesn't work

• I have searched open and closed issues for duplicates.
• I am using Signal-Desktop as provided by the Signal team, not a 3rd-party package.

Overall summary

On phone:

When I want to take a photo and set the flash to "automatic" or "always on" the photo is taken without the flash.

The flash light is briefly activated, but the light is off when the photo is taken.

Steps to reproduce

1. press button for photo
2. press icon for flash and change it to "automatic" or "always on"
3. make a photo in dark environment

A bright photo

A dark photo
