[Feature]: Force Undim Background #857

Description

@Lakunake

Problem Statement

On certain Android skins, specifically HiOS (Tecno) and XOS (Infinix), enabling Dark Mode automatically applies a dark tint or dimming effect to the home screen and lock screen wallpaper. Unlike Pixel UI or OneUI, these operating systems do not provide a user-facing toggle in the settings to disable this wallpaper dimming. This makes custom wallpapers look muddy and ruins the aesthetics of the home screen just because Dark Mode is active.

Proposed Solution

I would like a "Force Undim Background" toggle within the Essentials app. When enabled, this feature would counteract the OS-level dimming. I'm not sure of the exact technical implementation

Alternatives Considered

Currently, the only alternative is to completely disable Dark Mode across the entire phone, which defeats the purpose, or maybe some other adb command that I dont know about can solve it but It'd probably be gone by restart

Priority

Medium - Would improve my experience

Contribution

  • I would be willing to implement this feature

Additional Context

I am completely willing to provide system logs, settings database dumps, or test experimental builds to help get this feature working since I have a device running this specific OS, that is what I had meant by checking "I would be willing to implement this feature".
