Rich text is not exported along with emoji and opacity in color box

I'm not sure if it's because some emoji is mixed in, that doesn't support plain text or
if it's because of the font size change across two lines.

But the project displays the elements, but when I export, only the emoji is visible.

Can you select the text and check the font color? If the font color is transparent, you might have this problem. Make sure alpha is 255, not 0. Just to be sure, set the alpha to zero, accept the change, and then set it back to 255. The reason I wonder about this is because in your screenshot, the text appears white, but the font color appears black or dark.

You need to turn off the editor to properly preview. Either select another filter or choose from the menu Player > Toggle Filter Overlay. The editor must still be able to show the text when it is transparent. And the editor easily resets to transparent especially when pasting. Which is why you need to use Paste Text Only because usually there is some incompatible formatted text in the clipboard. Yes, they are ugly quirks, but we do not make the component; it is a part of Qt. And we already tried to make workarounds. The Paste Text Only is one of them.

Hi @bmatherly , unfortunately the color is:
silver/html = C0C0C0 and I haven't touched the alpha channel; it's default at 255. The nice finish comes from the opacity in the color box, which makes the text transparent.

In the Shotcut documentation for "rtf" text, Dan shows an example, but it's not clear to the user that you have to edit the text in LibreOffice and then paste it, with the important detail of enlarging the font size.

Some have reported on the forum that different font size variations aren't saved with rtf text, but that doesn't matter.

I think that if a user has the misfortune of starting to use rtf text instead of simple text, which is PERFECT, they're going to be in for a lot of surprises when exporting something repeatedly.

I think there should be a warning for optional or advanced use.

Another example is with the shadow; it doesn't work on its own in the filter. You have to put simple text on a transparent box and then drop it, with the other video track underneath.
What I did before was copy another simple text and moving it slightly to create a shadow and bevel.

Shotcut is a masterpiece. The size-position-rotation filter does so many things, and does them so well, that even the Kdenlive developers haven't been able to imitate it.

That's right, Dan.
Well, look, the simple text filter works so incredibly well that I've never had to use rich text for anything:
-> It's dynamic, it grows according to the content
-> It can be indented, You can tab with the space bar and use a line break
-> There's optional padding; it doesn't leave as much margin, but it's good.

HOWEVER, for pasting text that stands out against a background color, like black on yellow, rich text pasted from LibreOffice is wonderful. Because with plain text, it's very difficult to position and align multiple text filters correctly.

My suggestion to Brian was to add a warning for optional use or for advanced users only.

I've noticed that "transparent text," which is nothing more than a colored box with the alpha channel set to 0 and the RTF filter integrated, SHOULD COME WITH SIMPLE TEXT.

...now I use it almost exclusively to insert emoticons so I don't have to download the image, but it would be nice to integrate something like in OpenShot, to download them to the temporary folder where the openmoji.org appimage is extracted.

Although it might be unnecessary, because Unicode already includes dozens of basic and essential symbols, it's just that inserting them is difficult.
