How do I enable resolutions which include the notch when I create a virtual display? The VD works fine, however I don't see an option to hide or unhide the notch within the menu bar for any of the resolutions. all Crisp's virtual display choices appear to hide the notch when created. However, if I quit Crisp and choose eg 2294x1490 in the default 14" MBP resolution chooser, I can get a res whch includes the notch. By which I mean, the notch splits the menu bar in half. DRS |

Okay, this is strange. On one MBP I don't see the disable notch option at all - but I installed Crisp on a different MBP and I can see this option there. What makes the two MBP's different?? One is a 14" M4 Pro MBP, the other is a 16" M1 Pro MBP. Both have notches! On the M1 Pro, it didn't appear UNTIL I created a virtual display. Then the option appeared, and I deleted the virtual display and the hide notch option persisted on the main display. But when I click to hide notch, it literally hides the entire menu bar now. It doesn't just move the menu bar down to under the notch area then make it full width. It literally vanishes the menu bar. (I know this should probably be in Issues.) DRS |

Sorry this sat so long, I only just noticed it. Really useful write-up, though. You're right it belongs in Issues, so I've opened #63, let's keep it going there. Looks like two separate bugs:
On your actual question: right now every virtual-display size Crisp offers drops the notch on purpose, so there's no notch-splitting mode yet. I'll track that as a separate ask in the issue. I'll dig in properly and update the issue as I go. |

Both bugs are fixed and your virtual display question is answered over in #63, full details there. Short version: the toggle now shows on any notched built-in, hiding moves the menu bar below the notch at full width instead of blanking it, and a notch-keeping virtual display turns out to be impossible, macOS keeps mirrored content out of the notch strip no matter what shape the virtual display is. It all ships in the next release. |
