Welcome to Orbit: what it is, what it is not, and where to ask

Orbit is a free, realtime, keyboard-first task manager for software teams and the AI agents that work with them. Issues, boards, sprints, projects, milestones, docs, analytics, notifications, GitHub, Slack, and an OAuth-scoped MCP server. The hosted product at https://orbit.noveum.ai has no billing and no paid tiers, and the code is Apache-2.0.

What it is not. Not a CRM, not a helpdesk, not a wiki platform, not a Jira clone. It will not grow a second way to do something it already does.

Where to ask what.

• A bug or a feature with a shape: an issue, through the chooser.
• A question about running or using it: Q&A here.
• A feature you want but cannot yet describe as a change: Ideas here.
• Something you built with it: Show and tell.
• A security problem: never a public issue, see SECURITY.md.

Where to start contributing. The pinned post #231 lists the milestones. Issues labelled good first issue have the file paths written in. Anything larger than a bug fix wants a comment on the issue before code.

Self-hosting can be evaluated today; provider-neutral production self-hosting is marked Preview until the release gate in #388 is complete.
