Implement the regexp search syntax in System Logs page

By now the System Logs page can filter log lines by substring only.

Proposed solution

• Implement a switch to enable Regexp match syntax. Figma mockup
• Backend -- add an additional parameter to enable LogQL regexp syntax in match expression:

Alternative solutions

No alternative, the feature is already planned and has an UI design mockup.

This little enhancement was just postponed, after 8.9 release. Note that the final mockup version describes a second enhancement: the search result counter. Refer to the design issue #7974 and the mockup for implementation details.
