Some 600 dpi scans from the August 1980 Omni Magazine

A (600 dpi) photocopier yielded the best results.
I tried another scanner that claimed 1200 dpi capabilities, but the scans were lower quality.

"Phenomena", specifically, looks manually crafted.

All the letters are represented, except "jkyz".

I didn't honestly expect this scan to turn out so well; I didn't worry about, e.g., deskewing, or putting black construction paper behind it to avoid bleedthrough.

Method:

• the copier saved pdf files
• I turned them into png files with pdfimages and a for loop
• I used Mac Preview to copy and save the selection to new images
• I used pngcrush and another for loop to get the collection of images under 25 meg, to let me attach it here

These are a great help, especially when I look at the inner curves like on the E and how they are more sharp on the central bar than along the top and bottom. Thank you for your time and help!
